I had the pleasure of collaborating with my man David (aka Detail Junkees) on this custom toy. We have joined forces as part of the Hip Hop Figure Federation to create some really cool Hip Hop related action figures. I am a huge Homeboy Sandman fan, so this was a no brainer. I had to do it. My role was to lace the packaging’s graphic design and try to make it on brand with the Toy David created.
This time around, we had a tight time-frame but when you love what you are doing you make it work and work it did! The Bodega Brovas hosted An Evening with Homeboy Sandman and that was our delivery goal for the project. I looooove how it turned out.
Inspiration
The toy was inspired by Darko the Super’s latest album featuring Homebody Sandman, “Now”. We drew inspiration from the music and killer artwork. Also vintage MOTU if it wasn’t obvious. I am a huge fan of these colors.

Custom Toy Packaging Artwork
As soon as I started working on this project, I remembered my old illustration of “Castle Boomskull” which I never really did anything with. (Save your old files!) It was the perfect fit. Altered the colors and touched up a few things here and there to create the toy card backing art. I did the design on the back as well. See the mockups below.
